Bangladesh Food Safety Foundation jointly with Bangladesh Supermarket Owners’ Association and Sobuj Somaj Unnoyon Sanstha marked the day by holding a virtual seminar on “The Role of Non-State Actors in Enhancing Food Safety” with Engr. Muhammad Liaquat Ali, Founding Director General, Bangladesh Accreditation Board.
Three distinguished experts Dr. Hamidur Rahman, former Director General, of the Directorate of Agriculture Extension, Ministry of Agriculture; Mr. Zakir Hossain, General Secretary of Bangladesh Supermarket Owners’ Association and Mr. Naser Farid, former Director General, of Food Policy Monitoring Unit (FPMU), Ministry of Food discussed various aspects of present and future roles played and could be played by various non-state actors to take food safety forward along with the national food control agencies. The seminar was anchored by Mr. Mustak Hassan Md Iftekhar, former Director General, of NGO Affairs Bureau, Prime Minister’s Office, Bangladesh & Founding Chairman, of Bangladesh Food Safety Authority.
