BFSF and BSOA Organised a Webinar to Mark 7 June 2020 I World Food Safety Day

In continuity with the previous year, the Bangladesh Food Safety Foundation (BFSF) and the Bangladesh Supermarket Owners’ Association (BOSA) joined hands to observe WFSD 2020, reaffirming their dedication to fostering food safety awareness. The observance of World Food Safety Day 2020 took the form of an enlightening webinar. Ms. Nazmunara Begum, Secretary of the Ministry of Food, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, while Mr. Niaz Rahim, Chief Advisor of BOSA, took the chair.

Thematic Presentations

The event commenced with a series of presentations that aligned with the thematic areas recognized by FAO/WHO:

a) Ensure Food Safety and Collaborate for Safer Food – Presented by Mr. Mustak Hassan Md. Iftekhar, Founder Chairman of the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority and CEO of the Bangladesh Food Safety Foundation.

b) Produce and Safely Store Food – Presented by Mr. Hamidur Rahman, Former Director General of the Directorate of Agriculture Extension and Member of the Bangladesh Food Safety Foundation.

c) Process and Maintain Food Safety – Presented by Mr. Zakir Hossain, General Secretary of the Bangladesh Supermarket Owners’ Association and Member of the Bangladesh Food Safety Foundation.

d) Inspect and Certify Food for Safety – Presented by Engr. Mohammad Liaquat Ali, Member of the Bangladesh Food Safety Foundation.

In addition to the event, the following activities took place:

  1. Emails were sent to 388 Food Business Operators (FBOs).
  2. Emails were sent to 388 professionals, government officials including food control agencies, experts and academia.

These crucial messages were imparted to our valued stakeholders:

a) Adhering to Stringent Social Distancing and Enhanced Hygiene Practices.

b) Quality Time with Loved Ones and Nutritious Food.

c) Prioritizing Safe and Nutritious Food for Optimal Health.

d) Self-Quarantine When Necessary.

e) Unite Against COVID-19.

A Resounding Message

The conference emphasized that food safety is a shared responsibility that unites every individual engaged in the food supply chain. Together, we are dedicated to ensuring safer food for all.
