Bangladesh Food Safety Foundation observed 2 February 2023 National Food Safety Day

On 3rd March 2023, a significant event took place in Bangladesh as the Bangladesh Food Safety Foundation organized a round table discussion on the crucial topic of “Food Safety Culture and Practice.” The event was held in the prestigious AKM Gias Uddin Milky Auditorium, located in Khamarbari, Farmgate, Dhaka. Dignitaries and experts from various sectors were present to share their knowledge and insights on this critical subject.

The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Mr. Badol Chandra Biswas, the Director General of the Directorate of Agriculture Extension, Ministry of Agriculture, who served as the Chief Guest. Under his leadership, the agricultural sector has seen remarkable growth and innovation. Taking the chair was Dr. Hamidur Rahman, the former Director General of the Directorate of Agriculture Extension, Ministry of Agriculture, who is highly regarded for his expertise in agricultural practices and policies.

To enhance the discussion, Mr. Mustak Hassan Md Iftekhar, the founding Chairman of the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority, presented an insightful paper. His expertise and experience in the field added significant value to the conversation, setting the stage for an engaging and informative session.

Representatives from various sectors were present to contribute their perspectives on food safety, including individuals from food businesses, food control agencies, academia, standard and certification bodies, as well as farmers’ associations. This diverse group brought together a wealth of knowledge and experiences, enabling a comprehensive exploration of the challenges and opportunities in ensuring food safety throughout Bangladesh.
