World Food Safety Day 2022:  Virtual Seminar on ‘Food Safety Solutions: Global Context and Bangladesh Context’

Dhaka, 15 May, 2022 – In response to the current COVID-19 situation in Bangladesh, the Bangladesh Food Safety Foundation (BFSF) announces to host a virtual seminar to observe World Food Safety Day on 7 June 2022. Bangladesh Supermarket Owners’ Association (BSOA) and Sabuj Samaj Unnayon Sonstha (SUSS joined their hands with the BFSF to observe the day.  This event is part of BFSF’s ongoing commitment to be united for safer food. 

Two important papers will be presented in the seminar. Two papers were presented in the seminar. Dr. Muftikhar Ahmed, an international food safety consultant, will present “Food Safety Solution: Bangladesh and Global context” and Mr. Mustak Hassan Md. Iftekhar, founding Chairman, Bangladesh Food Safety Authority will present “State of Food Safety System in Bangladesh: Is It in the Right Direction?” Dr. Hamidur Rahman, former Director General, Directorate of Agriculture Extension will chair the seminar while Dr. Iqbal Rouf Mamun, Professor, Department of Chemistry, University of Dhaka. Dr. Muhammad Abdul Malek, Professor, Department of Microbiology and Director, Centre for Advanced Research and Studies, University of Dhaka. Engr. Mohammad Liaquat Ali, Founding Director General, Bangladesh Accreditation Board (BAB) will facilitate the discussion. This event will connect together food businesses, individual experts, academia and food control agencies to discuss and address key issues related to food safety system development. The event is open to all.
