Who We Are

A science-based independent not-for-profit think-tank dedicated to promoting food safety culture and practices for consumer and food businesses. Established in March 2019 during COVID-2019 pandemic, we seek to cover all the areas in the “Farm to Table” continuum and gradually step into additional areas in the “Food Safety Ecosystem” with increased stronger institutional base. The Foundation sincerely welcomes all out support from all food control agencies, food business operators, civil society and consumers voices towards this noble initiative.

Foundation’s Inception: BFSF emerged as the first of its kind in Bangladesh during the COVID-19 pandemic, recognizing the pressing need for an institution dedicated to food safety. Founded with a vision for a safer food ecosystem, we are committed to serving as a catalyst for change in the food industry. Our foundation was born out of a collective commitment to fostering a safer and more resilient food supply chain in Bangladesh.

Core Objectives

Our core objectives revolve around encompassing the entire “Farm to Table” continuum, with a future-oriented approach that extends into the broader “Food Safety Ecosystem.” BFSF’s primary objectives include:

Promoting Food Safety Culture: We are steadfast in disseminating food safety science and knowledge, striving to inculcate a culture of food safety among all stakeholders.

Supporting Food Businesses:  BFSF endeavors to assist food businesses and food control agencies in establishing and adapting to modern, rigorous food safety standards. This ensures that they meet the highest safety standards, boosting consumer confidence.

Policy Advocacy and Guidance: As a leading think-tank institution, we provide policy advocacy and guidance to enhance regional and global food safety integration, contributing to the overall improvement of food safety practices.

Institution Building: With an evolving institutional base, we are actively engaged in resource mobilization and institution building to fortify our foundation’s capacity and reach.

Partnership and Support: The Bangladesh Food Safety Foundation wholeheartedly welcomes support from various quarters, including food control agencies, food business operators, civil society, and the voices of consumers. Collaboration with these stakeholders is crucial as we work together to advance the cause of food safety in Bangladesh.
