On February 2, 2023, the Bangladesh Food Safety Foundation commemorated National Food Safety Day with a significant event. On March 3, 2023, the Foundation organized a thought-provoking round table discussion on the vital theme of “Food Safety Culture and Practice.” The event took place at the prestigious AKM Gias Uddin Milky Auditorium, located in Khamarbari, Farmgate, Dhaka. Eminent dignitaries and experts from diverse sectors graced the occasion, sharing their profound knowledge and insights on this critical subject.
Distinguished Guests:
The event was honored by the esteemed presence of Mr. Badol Chandra Biswas, the Director General of the Directorate of Agriculture Extension, Ministry of Agriculture, who graced the event as the Chief Guest. His leadership has been instrumental in propelling growth and innovation within the agricultural sector. Dr. Hamidur Rahman, former Director General of the Directorate of Agriculture Extension, Ministry of Agriculture, assumed the role of Chairperson. Dr. Rahman is highly regarded for his expertise in agricultural practices and policies.

Mr. Mustak Hassan Md Iftekhar, the founding Chairman of the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority, delivered an enlightening presentation. His vast experience and knowledge in the field added significant value to the conversation, setting the stage for an engaging and informative session.

২ ফেব্রুয়ারি জাতীয় নিরাপদ খাদ্য দিবস” উপলক্ষ্যে বাংলাদেশ ফুড সেফটি ফাউন্ডেশন গত ২ মার্চ ২০২৩ তারিখ বৃহস্পতিবার বেলা ০৩.০০ ঘটিকায় একটি গোল টেবিল বৈঠকের আয়োজন করে। আলোচনার বিষয়বস্তু ছিল “নিরাপদ খাদ্য সংস্কৃতি এবং অনুশীলন”। উক্ত গোল টেবিল বৈঠকটি আকামু গিয়াস উদ্দিন মিল্কি অডিটরিয়াম, খামারবাড়ি, ফার্মগেট, ঢাকা-তে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। এতে প্রধান অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন জনাব বাদল চন্দ্র বিশ্বাস, মহাপরিচালক, কৃষি সম্প্রসারণ অধিদপ্তর, কৃষি মন্ত্রণালয়। ডঃ মোঃ হামিদুর রহমান ভূতপূর্ব মহাপরিচালক, কৃষি সম্প্রসারণ অধিদপ্তর, কৃষি মন্ত্রণালয় সভাপতিত্ব করেন। বিষয়বস্তু নিয়ে জনাব মুশতাক হাসান মুহঃ ইফতিখার, মহাসচিব, বাংলাদেশ ফুড সেফটি ফাউন্ডেশন এবং প্রতিষ্ঠাতা চেয়ারম্যান, বাংলাদেশ ফুড সেফটি অথরিটি “নিরাপদ খাদ্য সংস্কৃতি এবং অনুশীলন” এর উপর একটি সংক্ষিপ্ত উপস্থাপন করেন।
ডঃ মোঃ হামিদুর রহমান ভূতপূর্ব মহাপরিচালক, কৃষি সম্প্রসারণ অধিদপ্তর প্রসংগত উল্লেখ করেন যে শুধুমাত্র নিরাপদ খাদ্য সংক্রান্ত আইন ও বিধি-বিধান থাকলেই তা পর্যাপ্ত হবেনা, খাদ্য ব্যবসায়ীগণ যাতে বাস্তবায়ন করতে পারেন সে বিষয়ে খাদ্য নিয়ন্ত্রণ সংস্থাসমূহ তথা সরকার-কে সকল প্রকার সহযোগিতা প্রদান করতে হবে। পাশাপাশি খাদ্য ব্যবসায়ীগণ নিজ প্রতিষ্ঠানের অভ্যন্তরে নিয়োগকর্তা ও ব্যবস্থাপক থেকে শুরু করে সকল কর্মীর মধ্যে নিরাপদ খাদ্য সংস্কৃতি গড়ে তুলতে হবে এবং নিয়মিত অনুশীলন করতে হবে। তিনি আরো বলেন যে নিরাপদ খাদ্য সংস্কৃতি একটি যৌথ মূল্যবোধ, বিশ্বাস এবং মনোভাবের ভিত্তিতে গড়া সংস্কৃতি। এর কোন প্রটোটাইপ নেই, খাদ্য প্রতিষ্ঠানের কাজের প্রকৃতির উপর নির্ভর করে।
প্রধান অতিথি জনাব বাদল চন্দ্র বিশ্বাস, মহাপরিচালক, কৃষি সম্প্রসারণ অধিদপ্তর খাদ্য ব্যবসায়ীগণ স্ব স্ব সংস্থার মধ্যে যত দ্রুত নিরাপদ খাদ্য সংস্কৃতি গড়ে তুলবেন তত দ্রুত প্রতিষ্ঠান কমপ্লায়েন্ট হবে, ব্যবসা ও সুনাম বৃদ্ধি পাবে, খাদ্য অপচয় হ্রাস পাবে এবং খাদ্যবাহিত রোগের প্রকোপ হ্রাস পাবে। এই সংস্কৃতি গড়ে তুলতে হলে পুরো সিস্টেমকে জড়িত হতে হবে। প্রসঙ্গত তিনি বলেন যে তাঁর প্রতিষ্ঠানও এ বিষয়ের উপর গুরুত্ব প্রদান করে এবং তাঁর দপ্তরের সম্প্রসারণ কর্মীগণ কৃষি উদ্যোক্তাগণকে সদাসর্বদা অনুপ্রাণিত করে। এ সংস্কৃতি গড়ে তোলার ক্ষেত্রে বাংলাদেশ ফুড সেফটি ফাউন্ডেশন সামর্থ্য অনুযায়ী উপযুক্ত কর্মসুচী গ্রহণ করতে পারলে তা আরো জোরদার হবে। তিনি বাংলাদেশ ফুড সেফটি ফাউন্ডেশনের এ উদ্যোগকে সাধুবাদ জানান। উক্ত অনুষ্ঠানে আরো বক্তব্য রাখেন জনাব ইঞ্জিনিয়ার মোহাম্মদ লিয়াকত আলী, প্রতিষ্ঠাতা মহাপরিচালক, বাংলাদেশ এক্রিডিটেশন বোর্ড এবং পরিচালক, ইউনিসার্ট, এশিয়া রিজিওন, ঢাকা; জনাব জিল্লুর রহমান, ম্যানেজিং পার্টনার, গ্রামীন ইনফোটেক গ্লোবাল, জনাব কামরুল হাসান চৌধুরী বিপু, ব্যবস্থাপনা পরিচালক, নবাবি ভোজ এবং যুগ্ম মহাসচিব, বাংলাদেশ রেস্টুরেন্ট মালিক সমিতি, জনাব মোয়াজ্জেম হোসেন, ভূতপূর্ব অতিরিক্ত পরিচালক, কৃষি সম্প্রসারণ অধিদপ্তর, কৃষিবিদ মোঃ আফজাল হোসেন ভূঁইয়া, হেড অব স্ট্রাটেজিক পার্টনারশীপ, আইডিই, এবং বেগম ইয়াসমিন আকতার, বিজনেস ম্যানেজার (নলেজ, হেলথ এন্ড নিউট্রিশন), এস জি এস বাংলাদেশ লিমিটেড। উক্ত বৈঠকে খাদ্য প্রক্রিয়াজাত শিল্প প্রতিষ্ঠান, বাংলাদেশ রেস্তোরাঁ মালিক সমিতি, কৃষি সম্প্রসারণ অধিদপ্তর, মান এবং সার্টিফিকেশন প্রতিষ্ঠান, মিডিয়া, উদ্যোক্তা প্রতিষ্ঠান, এনজিও এবং ফাউন্ডেশনের প্রতিনিধিগণ উপস্থিত ছিলেন। এ ছাড়াও একাডেমিয়া, কৃষিবিদ, মৎস্য ও প্রাণিসম্পদ বিশেষজ্ঞ, কৃষি উদ্যোক্তাসহ ৪১ জন উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
